Week 38, 2021

September was a cool, beautiful and awesome month fill with great fishing, changing leaves and many fun nights at the lodge.

After a pretty slow season we finally got busy for the last 3 weeks of our operating season. On September 7th, the border for international, double vaccinated travelers with negative Covid test, opened.

On September 8th we had basically a full house, most of our loyal September crew flocked in. We stayed open till October 3rd.

We had an unusual cold September with several days of heavy snow falling. On our last trip to Aishihik Lake we had to leave our boats at the lake for a few days, we had to wait for the snow to melt before we could drive them back out.

Fishing was very good. We caught lots of big Lake Trout, Roebi Grimm from Hebeisen caught a monster of 106 cm, a very heavy fish too. Kathleen/Louise and Mush Lake were dynamite, as well as our big lakes!

Unfortunately, we were not allowed to fly out for Coho, the US border was still closed. To the rescue came the Tatshenshini river!

After many years of poor runs, we enjoyed a healthy Sockeye run and lots of Cohos in the later part of the month. It was also an unbelievable good year for boletus mushrooms.

It looks like we’ll have a very busy 2022, please call/mail us as soon as possible if you are planning a trip to Dalton Trail Lodge. Let’s hope that the worst of the pandemic is behind us and that things will go slowly back to normal again.

Looking forward seeing you next year and sharing our beautiful Territory with you!

Your Dalton Trail Lodge Team!
