Week 32, 2021

Finally, some good news from the government regarding the border. The US border will open on August 5th, international travelers will be allowed into the country starting on September 7th.

Pretty busy week here at the lodge. We had students and teachers from the Yukon University on a field trip here at the lodge, studying for their exam and doing some outdoor projects for the “Environment Monitoring course”. They established a new lodge-record, catching more than 700 sockeye salmon in a week! Well, we should say “rescued” 700 sockeye fry that were trapped in a puddle.

Fishing was excellent this week too. We had clients from Saskatchewan and B.C. They caught many big pike, rainbow trout and grayling fishing was fantastic too and they caught 3 trophy Lake Trout! We have the pleasure of welcoming Shawna Lapointe (103 cm) and Gordon Ludt  (103 & 105 cm) into our Lake Trout trophy club! Good job guys!

Weather was nice all week long, very pleasant temperatures between 20 and 24 Celsius, very little wind in the beginning of the week, increasing to about 20 km towards the end of the week. So far we have had an amazingly warm and sunny summer!
