Best Indian summer week ever!! We had beautiful fall weather all week long with cold nights (first frosts!) and pleasant days and no wind to speak off.
We could fish our home lake all week long and our guests were very successful catching lots and big pike, Jacques Hirtz caught a105 cm Pike and tons of Grayling in the outflow. Lake Trout are starting to move into the shallower parts of the lakes and offer great fun on medium tackle.
We did a couple of trips to one of the mountain lakes and caught huge Arctic Grayling and Pike close to the trophy marks. Jacques lost a very big pike up there because the fish broke his 20 lbs line. In another outpost camp Dominique Bagur caught two trophy pike, both measuring 106 cm – congratulations and welcome to the trophy club Dominique!!
Lots of Grayling, Rainbow Trout, Whitefish and Lake Trout now in the upper part of the river. Our guests were very successful fly- and spin-fishing that part of the river.
Sadly, we don’t find any mushrooms this year, the summer was too dry, and we did not have much snow in the winter.
Earlier this year we had Howard, Paul and Justine Garvey with us (3 generations!). They produced a fantastic video about DTL and the Yukon, you can find it here:
All is good here at the lodge, we are looking forward to three more weeks of Indian summer fishing!
