This week at the lodge we had amazing weather with super calm days. The fishing was great; there were a lot less clients here this week. We took advantage of the not so busy days and did some work around the lodge, the cabins and infrastructure.
At our outpost cabin that is reachable only by ATV we built a new fire pit as well as some new stairs. We also did a lot of work on the trail. We fixed some bridges and cut some trees that were across the road.
Wilderness viewing has been exceptional with all this great weather; our guests were able to view all sorts of animals on the hills and trails. While on our 4x4 truck trip to a secluded lake in the Park they saw two Lynx’s and a rabbit within a hundred meters from each other.
Since we had so few guests this week we did not send anyone to our outpost cabin where we catch the majority of our large Lake Trout, therefore we did not catch any trophy Lake Trout but we still were able to land many that were very close to the trophy mark.
Grayling fishing has been exceptionally good this week; while fly fishing our clients caught a lot of Grayling that were very close to trophy size. These fish have amazing coloring and a beautiful dorsal fin.
We also caught some big Rainbow Trout which have some awesome coloring too.
We had a chance to explore some new fishing holes this week, we took a fish finder into some of our more remote lakes so that we could map out the depths and experiment on where the fish are at the time of the year. Everything is going great, we are busy again next week and excited for the arrival of our next guests.
