2014— Week 39

Our We finished our last week of the season in style with a total of three Pike Trophies being caught. We would like to welcome the following fishermen to our Trophy Club: Fritz Kaelin (108 cm), Janusz Tyson (106 cm) and Grzegorz Zabrowski (114 cm). Congratulations to all of you and well done! Despite the fact that it is getting late in the season the fishing was still fantastic.

On the lakes Pike fishing as well as Lake Trout fishing was great pretty much everywhere we went.

River fishing continued to be world class for Grayling, Whitefish, Rainbow Trout and “smaller” Lake Trout. We were able to do our last fly out trip to the coast of Alaska for the Silver Salmon. It was a trip no one would ever forget. The weather was fantastic so was the fishing. Our clients had non-stop action with these hard fighting Salmon in a spectacular surrounding. The weather was actually very enjoyable for this time of the year. We had hardly any wind for almost a week which was a real treat. Temperatures were dropping though and we had a couple of severe frosts but during the day with the right clothes on it wasn’t a problem at all. Just the last day of the week was miserable with cold temperatures and hard rain. But our clients stayed out and were rewarded with excellent catches.

We are looking back to a very successful season. We are very pleased with our bookings as well with the overall fishing. Our guests caught a total of 32 Lake Trout Trophies which is less than last season but still very impressive. Pike fishing was about average with a total of 27 Trophies being caught. We have seen a lot of big Grayling, more than any year before and we could welcome 8 new members to our Grayling Trophy Club.

The weather overall wasn’t that great, we had a lot of windy days and no real summer at all. So the weather could have been better but not the fishing! We would like to thank our staff for their hard work and efforts during this long season – we couldn’t have made it without you! It is time to winterize everything and to say good bye.

We wish everybody a good winter and all the best from Dezadeash Lake,

Your Dalton Trail Lodge Team
