Week 35, 2022

The end of August came fast! Fishing and Adventuring was awesome as expected. The weather stayed nice and warm. We welcomed back many long-term clients and friends that we had not been able to see for 3 years!

Trout fishing continues to amaze us! So many big fish, this had to be the best August ever. The fish are slowly starting to return to shallow waters which has opened up many more fly-fishing opportunities. We are proud to announce that our clients once again caught a lot of Trophy fish. We would like to welcome the following people to our Trophy Club:

Curt Kohlberg (113cm LT), Cuddy (105cm LT), Sylvan D (50cm Grayling) and Bob Brownstein (100cm LT). Awesome fishing guys! The Trophy Trout that Bob caught was amazing done on a fly rod. This time of year, that can be very rare. A special catch for sure!

As the leaves start to change color the Yukon mountains are turning a stunning array of fall colors. Over the next few weeks this will get more and more beautiful! Hiking and fishing in this time of year is truly breathtaking. Mushroom picking for King Boletus is even more beautiful in these conditions. Guests bring the mushrooms back to the lodge to be cooked for an appetizer or dried for take home.

At the end of the month, we were luck enough to enjoy some amazing Northern Lights. These Aroura Borealis fill the sky with vibrant colors, mostly bright green but also white, pink and purple.  If we are lucky, we will get to see a lot more of this natural phenomenon.

Only one more month of our season to go. The mornings will be crisper, the mountains may get some snow but all this add to the world class experience of coming to our lodge! If you have not booked with us yet for the 2023 season do so soon as we will fill up fast!

Till Next Time, Your Dalton Trail Lodge Team!
