July 2026

Once again, July has proven to be a beautiful time to spend at Dalton Trail Lodge in the Yukon!

The weather was beautiful for most of the month, temperatures reaching as high as 26 Celsius. Due to the warmer weather the bigger trout either descend to deeper waters or school up at creek heads. All of our big boats are set up with down riggers so we are able to get down to the cooler water where the monster fish are hungry. Jigging has been very successful as well.

Grayling and Rainbow trout fishing has been very active. We have two creeks right in front of our lodge flowing into Dezadeash lake where you can go down and either fly fish or spin cast for grayling and lake trout all day long!  Pike fishing has been super-hot as well. Our guests landed a ton of huge Pike and Lake Trout.

We would like to welcome the following guests into our Trophy Club:

Mike Lake Trout- 109cm, Tucker LT- 112+101cm, Jason LT-100cm, Barb LT-104cm, Dave LT- 101cm, Roger LT-101cm, Ellie LT-101cm, Uwe LT- 111cm, Chris LT- 101cm, Skye Pike- 105cm, Peter LT- 101cm, David LT- 101cm, Raffael LT- 103cm, Mike LT- 107cm, Greg LT- 113cm, Chris LT- 105cm, Hildegard Pike- 110cm, James LT- 107cm, Isaac LT- 105cm, John LT- 101+103+106cm, Jim LT-100cm and Brett Pike- 117cm. Well done and welcome to the Trophy Club!

Conditions became quite dry around the territory which creates a risk of forest fires. Luckily there were not a lot of lightning storms so there have not been any fires close to the lodge or our fishing destinations. We did have a few smokey days but the smoke was from fires far from the lodge. Finally, towards the end of the month we had some heavy rains.

With the rain came the first Porcini mushrooms and the morels! Our guests picked these mushrooms and brought them to the lodge to have prepared for appetizer. These mushrooms are very rare and can only be found for a short period of time in a few secret spots.

August should bring us more awesome fishing, changing flora and great new memories for all!
