We had a fantastic start to our 2019 fishing season. Our first weeks was busy with successful trips all around our area.
The weather stayed warm but we got some much-needed rain to help keep wildfires under control. The Lake Trout are hanging out in the shallow part of the lakes and many of our fly-fishing enthusiasts had the pleasure of catching many big fish on the fly.
Pike fishing was outstanding where we were able to reach them. There were some areas that the water was too low to get into the slews but our guides have many years of experience and were able to find them regardless. Grayling fishing is picking up and we have landed the first beautiful Rainbow Trout of the season.
We did our first outpost trips. Our guests enjoyed having an experience of a life time in the peaceful wilderness with a view that is unbeatable and a warm fire and cozy cabin to stay in. While there, they caught many Lake Trout and Pike. A couple of guests went to a very remote location where we set up a tent camp on an island. The guys caught over 140cm nice sized Pike, many of them around the 1 meter (40 inch) mark.
Our guests also had the honour of landing the first Trophy fish of the year. Bob Norgard caught an awesome Northern Pike trophy that measured 106cm. Ota Parizek caught the first Lake Trout trophy of the season, it measured 105 cm. Congratulations and welcome to the Trophy club!! We are looking forward to more beautiful Yukon summer days and catching many more beautiful fish this season.
