Summer returned to the Yukon, what a beautiful week we had! No wind and perfect conditions everywhere.
Lake Trout fishing was awesome, we had days with more than 30 Lake Trout in the boat! Lots of big fish too, Burkhard Köhler caught a huge Laker measuring 108 cm. The fish was so fat and heavy that Burkhard could hardly lift it for the trophy picture!! A lot of clients came very close to the trophy mark, missing it only by a half an inch or even less.
Grayling fishing was spectacular again this week with a lot of dry fly action. Michael Speer caught a trophy Grayling measuring 48 cm, congratulations and welcome to the trophy club!
Pike fishing slowed down a little bit but we were still able to catch some really nice fish.
Rainbow Trout fishing was very good too, we caught some measuring more than 60 cm. More and more Lake Trout start to show up in the river too.
No change to report in the King salmon situation, only a few fish made it up the river. Good report from our Sockeye river, more than 6,000 fish have been counted in one pool. We were hoping to fly out this week but could not because the river was flooded. Hopefully we’ll be able to fly out a group of clients this coming week.
All is good here at Dalton Trail Lodge, lots of fish and happy clients!
