2017— Week 25

We had another successful week here at the lodge. The weather was nice for the most part but got fairly windy at the end of the week.

Fishing was outstanding as usual; we got a couple more Pike Trophies as well as the first Lake Trout Trophies of the year. We would like to welcome Scott Toschi to the Pike Trohpy Club; he landed a huge 107cm fish. Don Gervin caught a massive 112cm Trophy Pike. Leon Gervin got not only one but two Trophies, a Lake Trout Trophy that was 101cm and a Pike Trophy that measured 108cm. Welcome to the Trophy club guys!

There was some heavy rain at the end of the week that will bring the water levels up again. The river that was causing us problems accessing one of our lakes is now low enough to cross again and we will be sending people there again next week.

We had one fairly interesting day this week, with three days it went from +30 to snowing! Here at the lodge the snow fell for an hour or two but at the town nearby, Haines Junction, they got over 6inches! They even had to cancel an annual bike race that was celebrating its 25th year. By the end of the day the snow was melted and the sun was out again.

The guests that went out and braved the weather were rewarded with some of the best fishing ever. One boat caught more than 50 Lake Trout in that one day.

In one of the river systems that we fish for Rainbow Trout the Rainbows are getting quite large. Although they don’t get anywhere near the size of our Lake Trout we were able to land many good sized fish.

Everything is going great and we are looking forward to more awesome fishing this summer.
