2017— Week 23

The first week of the 2017 season has been a success. We had mostly warm weather with some rain at the beginning of the week.

It can be very dry in the Yukon in the spring so a bit of rain is welcome. Water levels are low but that is normal for this time of the year, already they are coming up. Most of the lakes were clear of ice, the first couple days the water was still very cold, the fishing was still great but after a couple days it became phenomenal.

On many of the trips our clients caught fish nonstop all day. The Pike are very aggressive at this time of the year. After a long winter under the ice all the species of fish that we target get super active when the ice goes off. Scott caught a Pike that measured 104cm, just one centimeter off of the trophy mark for a Northern Pike.

We did our first overnight trips to our outpost cabin that is reachable only by ATV and then boat. While there clients enjoyed Pike, Grayling and Lake Trout fishing, as well as a steak dinner cooked over an open fire.

We did the first Jet boat trip down the river, the water came up enough that we will be able to continue going down from now on. The fishing was great with many Rainbow Trout being caught as well as Grayling and Lake Trout.

All in all everything is good here at the lodge, the fishing is great and everyone is happy!
Sorry for the delay in news reports, we had technical difficulties and thing will be back to normal soon.
