2017— Week 39

The last week of the season went by quickly and nicely. The fishing and weather were both awesome. The weather was actually much warmer than usual which is making the fishing a little different than other years at this time.

The way things are going we would have a least one more week of fishing before things will start to really slow down. We did not land any Trophy fish but our guests caught many that just missed the mark.

Once again the Pike were aggressive and large in size; they were caught with both spinners and flies.

Grayling fishing slowed down a bit but we still had lots of action and good sized fish. With the weather being so good again our guests did a lot of fly fishing. We did have a couple windy days that made the dry fly fishing a bit harder but we still had lots of action on spinners and streamers.

We flew a small group out to a river near the coast to fish for Salmon and they were once again successful. The run was not as strong as last week but still very good. The weather has been nice at the coast and it made it easy to fly them in and out of camp.

At the end of the week after the last fisherman went home we had a group of photographers come to the lodge for three days, they spent their time taking in the beautiful colours of the Yukon fall. On one of the evenings they stayed up until 1am waiting for the Northern Lights but did not see them. This rare spectacle can never be planned for but when it happens one would never forget its beauty.

As 2017 draws to a close we are working on many new plans for 2018, if you have not booked with us yet do so soon!
