2012— Week 34

We experienced another excellent fishing week and we are pleased to welcome the following two fishermen to our Trophy Club: Andre Suter caught a Lake Trout of 101 cm and Thomas Bolliger a Lake Trout of 103 cm. Congratulations to both of you and well done! The Lake Trout fishing was pretty tough as the bigger fish were not active for several days. Luckily they became active towards the end of the week and that was when Andre and Thomas caught four nice fish in the range of 90 to 103 cm. Of course we always catch “smaller” fish in the 60 cm range and we have found them already at the spawning areas. Pike fishing was descent with fish up to 90 cm being caught. Unfortunately we can’t really write a lot about the fishing as we only had a couple of fishing guests during this week, our other guests enjoyed hiking, river rafting, wildlife watching and so on. We will be very busy from next week on right to the end of the season. A few weeks ago we have hiked into a remote Lake where instead of Grayling we have found Pike. So we took the opportunity to test that Lake again with the right tackle. We walked through the thick bush and fished around the whole Lake from the shore. To our surprise we only caught 7 Pike up to 90 cm. There were no places where they were in big numbers, we caught on here and one there. So it is not really worth doing it with our clients. After the first trip when we caught two fish with two casts we thought this is going to be awesome, but we were disappointed. But that’s fishing, you never know what is going to happen! The weather was pretty good with still warm temperatures for this time of the year. We had one rainy day at the end of the week which will be excellent for the Boletus mushrooms.
