2012— Week 33

It has been an extraordinary week with Trophies of 3 different species of fish being caught. Erwin Sommer caught a huge Grayling of 49.5 cm in a very remote lake. The following fishermen all caught Lake Trout Trophies: Hanspeter Tanner 107 cm, Dennis Blake 109 cm, Bastian Jackson 106 cm, Carl Blake 103 cm and Dominique Bagur 101 cm. Besides the Lake Trout, Dominique also caught a Trophy Pike of 107 cm. Lore Tanner was successful with no less than two Trophy Pike (106 cm, 108 cm). Lore and Hanspeter really deserved their Trophy Fish as they have been repeating clients for more than 20 years. Congratulations to everybody and welcome to our Trophy Club! It is hard to beat a total of 9 Trophies in just one week. Needless to say that Lake Trout fishing was great everywhere we have fished. Quite a few were caught on flies. Fishing for Pike was excellent as well on all the waters we went. Besides the Pike Trophies our clients landed many fish in the range of 80 to 90 cm. We did a few trips fishing for Sockeye Salmon in our local rivers with good success. Although it is only the beginning of our run we landed several fresh ones. We are expecting a very good Sockeye fall run. Reports from rivers at the coast of Alaska say that the Silver Salmon are running slightly behind schedule. But Fisheries predict a good run. It looks like that everything this year is a little bit later than usual. Grayling fishing was great but we are still hoping for water levels to drop more. We have higher water on all the rivers than usual for this time of the year. The fish are there and our catches are excellent but lower water would make things easier. We had great weather for the first half of the week, sunshine and no wind. On the last days of the week the wind picked up and we experienced more clouds but no rain. All in all a fantastic fishing week!
