2012— Week 32

Great fishing continued during this week with a new member to our Lake Trout Trophy Club. We are pleased to welcome 14 years old Lars Jager to our exclusive Club. He landed a beautiful fish of 103 cm. Congratulations to this young fishermen and well done! His 10 years old sister Carina also caught a big Lake Trout, but unfortunately it was 2 cm short of the Trophy mark. Bad luck, but still a great effort and a fantastic fish! The whole Jager familiy was successful as they landed more nice fish in the 90 cm range. We hosted a few fly fishermen and they succeeded in catching many nice Lake Trout. It is quite a thrill to play these strong fighters on a fly rod. One of them actually broke his rod on a big fish. Grayling fishing was excellent in some rivers but on other rivers we are still struggling a bit with high water. Two days of rather heavy rain hasn’t really helped the situation. Rainbow Trout fishing was excellent with fish up to 45 cm being caught. The King Salmon run has slowed down, we only did a few trips at the beginning of the week and fishing wasn’t all that great. You can still catch some but you will not get big numbers. Pike fishing was generally good and Jörg Jager caught a beauty of 104 cm on the fly. We hiked into a remote lake where we have never fished before and where we expected to catch Grayling. After the battle through the thick bush we arrived at a small but beautiful mountain Lake. First cast and a fish was on. But to our surprise it wasn’t a Grayling but a large Pike of about 95 cm! As we only had ultra light tackle the fish went away with the lure. The next casts the same happened and we had to stop fishing as we were out of tackle. About half of the week was cloudy with strong winds and two days of rain. On the other days we enjoyed the sunshine and the calm conditions. The first Boletus Mushroom were found and we are looking forward to many more.
