2012— Week 31

It has been an excellent fishing week and we are pleased to welcome a new member to our Lake Trout Trophy Club. Jens Rehlein caught a beautiful big Lake Trout of 106 cm. Congratulations and well done! Besides the Trophy our guests landed several big fish very close to the Trophy mark. One fisherman lost a very big fish after 10 minutes of hard fighting. We would have love to see this fish as it couldn’t be moved from the bottom. Too bad but this is fishing! Fishing for King Salmon was outstanding and almost every day our guests landed a total of more than 15 Fish. As usual with these heavy and hard fighting fish you lose about the same numbers as you land. So there were lots of hook ups and action on the river. Unfortunately the run will bee a lot weaker than expected, so far only 466 Chinook have migrated upstream the weir. This is a big difference to the last years 1469 at the same time. Fishing for Pike was excellent with nice fish up to 100 cm being caught. One group had fantastic action with surface lures and they for sure enjoyed watching the fish coming up to the surface and hitting hard. We still have high water but some rivers are starting to drop. We had great action fishing for Grayling and Rainbow Trout. Many were caught using dry flies. We didn’t have many guests during this week, so there was a little break from the overall very busy July. The weather was fairly nice this week, mainly sunny with some clouds. We only had one day without winds at all so it has been a pretty windy week. But it didn’t affect the fishing at all, we were able to fish all the waters we wanted.
