2011— Week 38

During our last week of the season our guests enjoyed the ongoing world class fishing. Friedrich Schultehinrichs caught a huge Lake Trout of 111 cm. Congratulations to you and welcome to our Trophy Club! The river fishing for Grayling, Whitefish, Lake Trout and Rainbow Trout was outstanding. Usually the fish stay in the rivers till early October and then they will move into the Lakes to spend the winter. So there would be still fantastic fishing for the next two weeks. Also the Silver Salmon fishing continues to be great even longer. The weather had its ups and downs but generally it was better than the previous weeks. We proudly look back to a very successful season. We are very pleased with the bookings as for many weeks we had a “full house”. Only the beginning and the end of the season were slower than usual – which is too bad because both periods offer one of the finest fishing you can experience here. With a total of 41 Lake Trout Trophies it has been our best year for big fish. We have never caught this many Namaycush Trophies. Also the Pike fishing was outstanding and our guests caught no less than 56 Trophies during the whole season. Although we didn’t catch a Grayling Trophy the fishing was great throughout the summer. It was also an outstanding season fishing for Rainbow Trout, Whitefish, Dolly Varden and Inconnu. The Salmon runs were one of the best in the past years. Not only for the rivers at the coast of Alaska but also our local rivers produced many fish. It is nice to see healthy stocks for the future! The only downside of this season was the weather. We had a lot of rain which is unusual as our climate here is very dry. Also the wind was above average but didn’t affect the fantastic fishing during our season. We would like to thank our valuable staff for their hard work and efforts - we couldn’t have done it without you! Now we wish everybody a good winter, take care and best regards from Dezadeash Lake,

Trix, Hardy, Thomas
and the whole Dalton Trail Lodge Team
