2011— Week 28

Our guests experienced beautiful weather and great fishing during this week. Samuel Gonny caught two Trophy Pike and therefore became a new member to our Trophy Club. Congratulations and welcome to the Club! Although we caught these two Trophies fishing for Pike was not that great. We have higher water levels on some of our Lakes and the fish don’t seem to stay in the same areas they used to in previous years. Or was it just the hot weather? High temperatures didn’t affect the Lake Trout fishing all too much. We had great days with a lot of nice fish up to 90 cm and many of them on the fly. All our trips fishing for Inconnu (Sheefish) were a success. They are also called freshwater Tarpon and they really look very similar to a saltwater Tarpon. For every angler it is a memorable day to catch this rare fish, especially when you land a big one over 100 cm, which some of our guests did during this week. Fishing for King Salmon was great for the first half of the week and then slowed down due to higher water levels from the snow melt. As of July 13th 183 King Salmon have went through the weir and we are expecting a run of more than one thousand Kings. Our guests experienced also great sport fishing for Rainbow Trout and Grayling. One of our clients went mushroom picking and found the first Boletus of the season. Not many yet, but they are for sure great eating! Except one day with heavy rain we had beautiful and hot weather for the whole week. The rain was highly appreciated as it became extremely dry. The wind was also on the calm side which made things a lot easier.
