2010— Week 38

Great fishing continued during our last 10 days of the season. It is our pleasure to welcome two new members to our Pike Trophy Club: Michael Menardo and Giordano Gatti both caught two Trophy Pike. Congratulations to both of you and well done! Generally the Pike fishing slowed down toward the end of the season and you would have to work hard to get them to bite. Fishing for Lake Trout was fantastic with beautiful fish up to 94 cm being caught. The river fishing was world class for Lake Trout, Grayling, Whitefish and Rainbow Trout. Many of our guests caught all four species in one day which we call the “Small Grand Slam”. Pretty soon the Whitefish and Lake Trout will have spawned out and all the fish will move into the Lakes to spend the winter. The beautiful Indian Summer weather continued for the first 4 days of the week. But then we got punished for having had such nice weather during almost the whole month of September. One cold front after the other brought very low temperatures and even snow! It was unusual to experience this cold weather so early, normally it would happen around middle of October. But anyway, the fishing was excellent, just the conditions were tough for everybody. Due to the weather situation we couldn’t do any more fly out trips to the coast of Alaska for the Silver Salmon. This was too bad as the fishing would have still been great. Despite the uncertain economic environment we are looking back to a very successful season. For many periods we were fully booked and we would like to take the opportunity to thank everybody who visited us this year. The fishing was great all season long and we have never caught this many Trophy fish before. Overall we can’t complain about the weather either. It has been a dry summer with decent temperatures and the wind didn’t bother us too much. So all in all we are very pleased with how things went. Of course we couldn’t have done it without our valuable staff and would therefore like to thank everybody for their efforts and hard work during the long season. We wish everybody a good winter, take care and best regards from Dezadeash Lake,
