2010— Week 35

Although there were “only” two Trophy fish caught our guests experienced a very eventful week. Julius Prueger III caught a big Grayling of 49 cm and Tom Hunt a huge Pike of 108 cm. Congratulations to both of you and welcome to our Trophy Club. Grayling fishing was out of this world with a lot of fish over 40 cm being caught. All the rivers are very low and crystal clear so we couldn’t have any better conditions. There are a good numbers of Lake Trout in the rivers as they are getting close to spawning and our guests caught many of them. Fishing for Lake Trout in the Lakes was spotty, we had some very good days and other days the fish were not all too active. Nevertheless one of our guests landed a beautiful Laker of 96 cm and another group had several nice ones up to 87 cm. Pike fishing was good but not as productive as the past weeks. It generally slows down a bit towards the fall. Fishing for Rainbow Trout was excellent. They followed the Whitefish into the rivers and love feeding on their eggs. The Bird hunting opened on September 1st and as a long time tradition our regular guests did the first trip for Ptarmigan. They were successful and enjoyed eating this very fine meat out in the bush. We did another fly out trip to a very remote river at the coast of Alaska for the Silver Salmon. Fishing was as great as last week and our guests had sore arms playing this many Cohos. Because we had a very dry summer there are practically no mushrooms around. Even the last week’s good rain didn’t help to bring them out. For the first half of the week we had nice weather and calm conditions. The rest of the week was cloudy with occasional rain showers and stronger winds. All in all a great week with a lot of action!
