2010— Week 27

A lot of happy faces during this week with a total of 6 Trophies being caught! We are pleased to welcome the following fishermen to our Trophy Club: Doug Kelvin Lake Trout of 101 cm, Achim Nottinger Lake Trout of 111 cm and 105 cm, Phil Fetchko 3 Pike (105 cm, 106 cm, 109 cm). Congratulations to all of you and well done! Doug wanted to head back to the Lodge and was almost reeling in when his Trophy Lake Trout hit the lure – what a perfect script! Achim had the trip of his life as he caught the biggest Lake Trout of the season as well as another beautiful fish of 105 cm. Besides the two Trophies he landed another 2 Lakers over 90 cm. He had blisters on his hands from reeling in this many big fish. As mentioned in the last weekly report the first King Salmon have entered our rivers. Fishing was pretty good, our guests managed to get a few in the net up to 25 lbs during a day of fishing. We basically practice catch and release as the fish have quite a long journey from the ocean and are not in mint condition any more. While fishing for Kings we caught Sockeyes as well but this early run is closed to retention. Fishing for Pike was great everywhere we fished. Grayling and Rainbow were very active and many were caught on dry flies. They are so much fun to catch on light tackle! We experienced sunny days for the first half of the week with some winds from the south. On Friday we enjoyed a beautiful day with pure sunshine and no wind at all. Unfortunately it didn’t last long as a big front moved to the coast of Alaska and we had strong winds and cloudy conditions. Despite the wind our guests still caught plenty of fish as we have so many places where we can go fishing.
